About SORA
Sherab Odsal Raldeling Academy is an English medium co-educational institution in Sudung, West Sikkim. The school was established by His Eminence Palyul Lhatrul Rinpoche of Mysore in 2008 and is backed by Palyul Dechen Charitable Trust, Sreebadam. The school is located in the serene and tranquil hill slope bounded by green ambience at Sudung.
Sherab Odsal Raldeling Academy was started as a primary school and is upgraded up to class VIII. The school aims at the education of children hailing from different socio-economic backgrounds and lays great emphasis on academic excellence, overall development of personality of child with skills and character.

This motto is a direct reflection of our Founder’s vision for community that values academic excellence, personal growth, and character development. Besides this, our Founder envisioned a school community that embodies love, compassion, and empathy towards all sentient beings .Empathy meaning understanding and sharing the feelings of others where as love and compassion promote kindness showing concern and care for the well-being of others.

SCHOOL FOUNDER
His Eminence, Palyul Lhatrul Rinpoche was born in Darjelling in 1968. According to hearsay, it is known that when he was born, a miraculous signs such as tent like rainbows appeared in the sky. At that time Drug Thugsay Rinpoche said with great sincerity .” You should be careful to protect this child from any harm and keep him in good, pure surroundings. In the future , he will become a benefactor for the Dharma and for sentiment beings. I will act as a guardian to him”.
His Eminence was recognized and enthroned as the 4th Palyul Lhatrul Rinpoche at a very young age of eight years in Dehradhun by His Holiness Penor Rinpoche in 1975. HE studied Buddhism; and learned reading ,writing and grammar from many learned masters like Dagpo Trulku. HE was able to learn the ritual practice texts without any difficulty . HE attended college of Thegchog Namdrol Shedrub Dhargyeling in Mysore, south India.
After his studies, His Eminence Rinpoche has established many Dharma centres in many countries for the benefit of all sentiment beings . He founded centers in Nepal ,Canada, America, Singapore,Taiwan and Sikkim.
In 2006 His Eminence constructed Palyul Dechen Gawelling Monastery in Sribadam, West Sikkim to promote Buddhist teachings especially in the subject of Sutra and Tantra based on sacred teachings of Guru Padmasasmbhava. In 2008, Palyul Urgen Thosamling Monastic Primary School was established at Palyul Dechen Gaweling Monastery, Sribadam.The school has secured affiliation in the Ecclesiastical Department , Government of Sikkim in 2023 and subjects like Bhutia, Hindi,Nepali , English and Mathematics are taught from Pre- Primary till Class VIII.
Following the same year in 2008, His Eminence started a non monastic school in Sribadam- Sherab Odsal Raldelling Academy with the purpose of imparting a modern quality education to students belonging to different socio-economic backgrounds. At present, the school conducts classes from Nursery to class VIII.
