DURGA PUJA (DASAIN)

• Durga Puja is a festival honoring Goddess Durga’s victory over the buffalo-demon Mahishasura, celebrated primarily in Eastern India, especially in West Bengal, Odisha, and Assam.
• Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, celebrates Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana, observed mainly in North India.

Both festivals symbolize the triumph of good over evil, but they have different mythological backgrounds and cultural traditions. The coincidence of dates is due to both festivals being celebrated according to the lunar calendar, often falling within the same period.
